Winter Visits to Jamaica Surge

1.6 million seats will be flying into Jamaica this winter, a record-breaking number for the island. Jamaica has long been a favourite spot for vacationing Canadians and this volume of air traffic indicates its position as a sought-after Caribbean destination for people from around the world. The Jamaican Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett calculates that even if those planes are only 80% full (1.3 million visitors) it represents a 12.8% increase over last winter, or 178, 000 more visitors. “This is going to be the best winter season on record.” says Bartlett.

The Jamaican Tourist Board (JTB) views these numbers as evidence of a robust recovery in the tourism sector and indicative of growth for the future.

The JTB has received many accolades, including for its work with travel advisors. It was awarded six 2024 Travvy Awards, including a gold for ‘Best Travel Agent Academy Program’ It also received a TravelAge West WAVE award for ‘International Tourism Board Providing the Best Travel Advisor Support’ for a record-setting 12th time.
