Visit Portugal is increasing its travel trade activity in Canada this fall, with a series of advisor initiatives and three industry events in Portugal planned before the end of 2026.
The tourism organization says increased airlift is creating additional opportunities to build Canadian demand for Portugal during the winter and spring seasons, with a focus on encouraging travel beyond the traditional peak period.
“Our travel trade partners are central to Portugal’s success in Canada. Their expertise, enthusiasm and continued support help turn interest in our destination into travel,” said Inês Almeida Garrett, Country Director for Canada, Visit Portugal.
“With GMS continuing to strengthen our trade relationships and VOX bringing dedicated public relations support, we are expanding our capacity to inspire Canadian travellers and support the partners who bring them to Portugal.”
Advisor Engagement Continues
Visit Portugal says its Canadian trade activity this fall will include appearances at trade shows and industry events, along with webinars, in-person training, sales calls and familiarization trips.
“Travel advisors are our valued ambassadors and an essential link between Portugal and Canadian travellers,” added Inês. “We deeply appreciate their commitment to our destination and want to ensure they have the support to introduce clients to new regions, recommend memorable experiences and grow their Portugal business.”

Several Canadian industry events will also take place in Portugal over the coming months.
In October, the Air Canada & United Airlines Race 2026 will be held in Porto and Northern Portugal, giving participating travel professionals an opportunity to experience the region firsthand.
In November, Travel Trade Marketplace Canada will bring 40 tour operators and other travel partners to Alentejo to meet tourism companies representing Portugal’s seven regions. The event is intended to establish new industry relationships and expand the range of Portuguese tourism products available in Canada.
Also in November, the CATO Out-of-Country Symposium will take place in the Azores, bringing Canadian tour operators to the destination.
Focus On Year-Round Travel
Visit Portugal says increased airlift is supporting efforts to attract Canadians outside the peak travel season, including for city breaks, culinary and wine tourism, golf, nature experiences and trips to the country’s islands.
“Our priority is to turn greater connectivity and awareness into sustained demand across Portugal’s regions and seasons,” said Inês. “By working closely with our airline, tour operator, association and travel advisor partners, we look forward to a successful winter and spring and to building on the strong relationships that underpin Portugal’s growth in Canada.”
