The Martinique Tourism Authority (MTA) returned to Toronto for its 2026 edition of Martinique Sensation, bringing together dozens of travel advisors, hoteliers and tourism professionals at the Malaparte Event Space for an evening of destination updates, networking and a preview of what's ahead for 2027.

The annual event highlighted Martinique's French-Caribbean culture, Creole cuisine, accommodations and natural attractions, while placing particular emphasis on improved air access from Canada.

“With Martinique Sensation now a recurring fixture in Martinique’s international schedule, we find ourselves continually looking forward to our next return to the Canadian market,” said Karine Roy-Camille, Deputy Director Americas, Martinique Promotion Bureau CMT CANADA.

“Whether it’s in Quebec or Ontario, we are so pleased that Martinique has been embraced so strongly by our Canadian friends and partners. We’re grateful to have the opportunity to reciprocate that enthusiasm and provide all-new reasons to fly south for the Winter in 2027 and beyond.”

More Flights, More Options for Canadians

A major focus of this year's event was the upcoming winter flight schedule, with both Air Canada and Air Transat providing nonstop service from three Canadian gateways.

Air Canada will offer up to six weekly flights from Montreal, two from Toronto and one from Quebec City.

Air Transat will provide an additional five weekly flights from Montreal, along with two weekly departures each from Toronto and Quebec City.

Combined, the schedules represent up to 18 weekly nonstop flights between Canada and Martinique, giving travel advisors more options for clients considering the French-Caribbean destination.

Canadian travellers also benefit from relatively straightforward entry requirements. No visa is required for stays of less than three months, and Martinique does not charge entry or exit fees.

Beyond the Beaches

While Martinique is known for its beaches and tropical climate, tourism officials used the Toronto event to draw attention to experiences beyond the coastline.

Presentations highlighted the island's Creole culinary traditions, French and Caribbean cultural influences, accommodation options ranging from locally operated properties to luxury hotels, and its UNESCO-recognized natural landscapes.

The event also provided an opportunity for Canadian travel advisors to connect directly with representatives from Martinique's tourism industry and learn more about the destination's offerings.

Martinique Sensation is one of the destination's two major annual initiatives targeting the Canadian market, alongside the Martinique Gourmande Festival, held in September.

The continued investment in both events reflects the importance of Canadian visitors to Martinique's tourism industry, particularly as additional winter flights create opportunities to reach travellers beyond Quebec.

“Our message to Canadians this year is simple: there’s more to see and experience in Martinique than ever, and it’s easier than ever to get there,” said Roy-Camille, to attendees. “We look forward to welcoming more travellers from one of our #1 international market to our shores in the new year.”
