Flush with more than half a billion dollars in new investment, Virgin Voyages is beefing up its North American sales and support teams, growing its support team by 150% and increasing the number of sales managers in the field by 55%.
The expansion announcement came just days after the line received US$550 million in new funding from BlackRock and other investment companies.
Virgin has promoted Atlanta-based Kristy Giragosian to senior manager of national accounts. Three senior sales managers have been named to cover parts of the U.S. and Virgin Voyages says it will soon appoint a sales manager for Canada.
With more sales managers in the field, the line will double its support team in South Florida.
The new staff will be assigned to help agents with securing commissions, registering them for its Seacademy educational sales platform, and creating logins and signups for FirstMates.com.
Virgin is sailing two ships -- the Scarlet Lady and the Valiant Lady. A third ship, Resilient Lady, is expected to debut in May from Athens and a fourth ship, Brilliant Lady, is expected to set sail for the first time at the end of 2023.
