Meet Skipper, the friendly pup that will serve as the “chief dog officer” aboard Royal Caribbean International’s forthcoming ship, Legend of the Seas.
Michael Bayley, the line’s president and chief executive officer, shared an adorable video of Skipper’s first day at work at the company’s headquarters in Miami.
“Friendly, intelligent, loving and cute as cute could be,” he wrote on Facebook, adding that these were “clearly all of the attributes of a great chief dog officer.”
Skipper, a golden retriever born in early February, is continuing a tradition that started with Icon of the Seas, which introduced the position with Rover in 2024. Next, a pup named Sailor joined the team aboard Star of the Seas in 2025.
Skipper will set sail on Legend of the Seas, which is slated to debut in Europe in July.
Bayley also posted photos of Skipper chewing on his glasses, snoozing on a bed and looking at photos of her colleagues. Another video shows Skipper being dropped off at Bayley’s home.
