Canadian cruise ports were busy places in 2025, surging past pre-pandemic levels to 1.9 million arrivals last year.

According to data complied by Frontier Counts and released by Statistics Canada, the top ports (hosting the most arrivals) were on the West Coast: Victoria was the busiest, with 959,100 arrivals, followed by Vancouver with 533,300 for a total of 81.1 percent of all cruise arrivals in the country.

The East Coast hosted 1 in 5 (18.2 percent) of the country’s cruise arrivals, with 149,900 arrivals in Halifax/Dartmouth and 135,300 in Saint John. The Arctic is starting to enjoy more arrivals in its ports, with 5,600 arrivals in Inuvik/Tuktoyaktuk, Pond Inlet and Iqaluit.

U.S residents made up the bulk of visitors to our ports at 80 percent, That represents 143 percent growth over pre-pandemic numbers. The next biggest group was overseas residents (11.9 percent), with Canadians trailing at just 8.1 percent of cruise port arrivals.

Arrivals coming direct from overseas (rather than from the U.S.) showed a notable increase, jumping from 3.7 percent in 2023 to 11.1 percent in 2025.
