WestJet Rejigs 2026-27 Schedule

If it feels like there were a bunch of different WestJet flights available last year, it’s not just you. Flight analytics website Simple Flying crunched the numbers comparing the Calgary-based airline’s schedule from between January 2025 and May 2026 with schedules filed from June 2026 through March 2027. What it found was 41 routes that had been cut for the second half of this year and into next.

Roughly a third of the cuts are due to cancelled flights to Cuba. When WestJet took over Sunwing’s flights, it inherited a healthy schedule of flights to the Caribbean island. With Cuba in crisis and under a travel advisory, airlines were forced to cut flights, in WestJet’s case, 14 of them. Flights are currently scheduled to resume in the winter of 2026 in the hopes that the island nation will have recovered from its current dire situation.

The majority of the 41 flights that have been cut into the U.S. As Canadian desire to travel to our neighbour continues to wane, airlines have responded by eliminating and consolidating routes. In total, 24 cross-border routes have been cut, allowing WestJet to focus on routes with higher demand and expanding its European market.

The remaining cancelled routes are in Mexico and Latin America. Included in the cuts are Regina International Airport (YQR) to Mazatlán International Airport (MZT), Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) and YUL and Gustavo Rojas Pinilla International Airport in San Andrés, Colombia (ADZ).
