RBC and WestJet have announced enhancements to their WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard and WestJet RBC Mastercard.
“With these enhancements, we're strengthening our leading WestJet RBC Mastercard travel card portfolio, while helping our cardholders get rewarded faster and enjoy greater peace of mind when travelling,” said Athena Varmazis, SVP, Consumer & Commercial Credit Cards, RBC.
The updates take effect on November 5, 2025.
Steve McClelland, VP, Loyalty at WestJet, added: “These updates will give cardholders more flexibility and accelerated earning opportunities, so they can enjoy affordable adventures and get the most out of every trip.”
Faster Points on Everyday Purchases
The changes allow cardholders to earn more WestJet points on a wider range of everyday purchases:
- WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard: Two points per dollar on WestJet and Sunwing Vacations, plus groceries, gas, electric vehicle charging, public transit, and rideshare. One and a half points per dollar on all other purchases.
- WestJet RBC Mastercard: One and a half points per dollar on WestJet and Sunwing Vacations, plus restaurants, food delivery, streaming services, digital games, and digital subscriptions. One point per dollar on all other purchases.
More Flexible Companion Vouchers
The annual companion voucher remains a key benefit, but can now be exchanged for new alternatives:
- WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard: 30% flight discount, $200 WestJet Vacations credit, $200 Sunwing Vacations credit, or two lounge vouchers (down from four).
- WestJet RBC Mastercard: 25% flight discount or 5,000 WestJet points redeemable across flights, vacations, or merchandise.
Fee and Spend Adjustments
- WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard: Annual fee rises to $139 from $119 starting December 1, 2025. A $5,000 minimum spend will be required to unlock the companion voucher for new vouchers issued after November 5, 2025.
- WestJet RBC Mastercard: A $2,500 minimum annual spend will be required for the companion voucher starting with vouchers issued after November 5, 2025.
Expanded Travel Protections
Both cards now include additional insurance benefits: trip cancellation and mobile device insurance for the World Elite card, and mobile device insurance for the standard card.
