This is the Busiest Flight Route in North America

Travel industry data platform OAG has compiled the busiest air travel routes in the world, and the route with the most seats in North America is Vancouver International (YVR) to Toronto Pearson (YYZ).

With 3,655,423 seats scheduled in 2025, the Vancouver-Toronto route edges out the top U.S. flight, New York JFK to Los Angeles, which had 3,431,159 scheduled seats this year.

Both those routes pale in comparison to the global top routes, which were mainly centred around the Asia Pacific region. 

The number one spot was taken by a Korean domestic route: Jeju International (CJU) - Seoul Gimpo (GMP) which saw nearly 14.4 million scheduled seats in 2025. The 1 hour, 15 minute flight costs around $44 US each way and ferries passengers between the two destinations at a rate of 39,000 passengers a day. Seven airlines operate over 130 flights every day, averaging a flight every seven minutes.

The second and third placed busiest routes are both in Japan: Sapporo New Chitose (CTS) to Tokyo Haneda (HND) is in second place with 12.1 million seats in 2025 and Fukuoka (FUK) to Tokyo Haneda (HND) is in third place with 11.5 million seats scheduled in 2025. That exceeds 2019 levels by one percentage point, making it one of the few major domestic routes to surpass pre-pandemic capacity.
