A quick and comfortable Porter Airlines flight is all that's required for Canadian travellers to get to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a destination justly celebrated for its beautiful beaches and golf courses, distinctive cuisine and wide-ranging entertainment.

Myrtle Beach is the latest seasonal destination to come back online for Porter after a pandemic pause. Flights will operate twice weekly from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, landing at MYR, which placed first in the 2021 Best Small Airport category for USA Today's Readers' Choice Awards.

MYR is a pleasure to arrive and depart from, noted for its convenient location, ease of security and gate access.

The Porter program will run from March 9 to May 28, with flights on Wednesdays and Fridays and connecting flights available from select markets.

There should be plenty of pent-up demand, with the Porter flights the only direct air connection to Myrtle Beach from Canada, and with service returning for the first time since 2019.

Porter offers much more than flights, with its Porter Escapes division offering affordable flight and accommodation options, plus golf tee times at some of the region's 90 courses, which cater to all skill levels.

Canadians have flocked to Myrtle Beach for decades, and the local tourism industry is well aware of their importance. Each year, CAN AM Days festivities recognize the strong, historic cross-border connection and welcoming environment for Canadians.

After a pandemic pause in 2021, this year marks the 61st anniversary of CAN AM Days, set for March 12-20. Canadians can take advantage of a wide range of discounts, which extend through April 30.

Discounts are offered at more than 30 area businesses, including accommodations, restaurants, entertainment venues and excursions on land and water, including dolphin adventures, fishing charters, eco-tours and much more.

The Myrtle Beach area includes 100 kilometres of coastline - known as the Grand Strand - studded with wide, glorious beaches.

Its oceanfront location means seafood is king at local restaurants, many serving 'low-country' cuisine, an infusion of the cultural influences of the many people that settled on the land in the past; some of the flavours in these foods includes influence from: France, West Africa, and the Caribbean.

The destination has a variety of other attractions, including outlet shopping, a Ripley's Aquarium, a two-kilometre boardwalk, and a long list of showplaces offering the best in music, dance, comedy, dinner theatre, celebrity concerts, and movies.
