A new U.S. airliner is making its Canada entrée today. Windsor International Airport (YQG) will welcome a new non-stop flight from Orlando-based National Airlines later this afternoon.
The flights, which will depart Windsor International Airport on Thursdays and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. and arrive at Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) at 5:00 p.m., will give southern Ontario residents a new option when heading for Florida.
"We are delighted with National Airlines' fast, direct flights from YQG to Orlando Sanford International Airport," said Windsor Mayor, Drew Dilkens. "Our research shows residents of southern Ontario fly to Florida more than to any other destination, and new non-stop flights allow YQG to provide better service to Florida than many larger Canadian airports. Most importantly, it means our residents no longer have to cross into Detroit to catch flights to Florida."
National will offer return flights from Orlando Sanford International Airport on Thursdays and Sundays, departing at 10:30 a.m. and arriving in Windsor at 1:00 p.m. The flight is scheduled to operate year-round.
"National's non-stop service to Orlando Sanford International Airport will offer competitively priced flights to Central Florida's theme parks, beaches and cruises," said Edward Davidson, President and Chief Operating Officer at National Airlines. Davidson continued "Windsor was selected as an ideal gateway serving southwestern Ontario and the airport is easy and fast to navigate."
National Airlines, which has been flying cargo and charter services for more than 20 years, inaugurated its first-ever passenger service earlier this week when it began regularly scheduled flights between Orlando and Puerto Rico's Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan.
The airline is planning to further expand into Canada next year, when it will commence service between Orlando and St. John's International Airport (YYT) on Jan. 18, 2016 and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in May. National Airlines' detailed flight schedule is available at www.NationalAirlines.com/services.
For all passenger services, National Airlines operates two FAA-certified Boeing 757-200 aircrafts, which have a seating capacity of 184 passengers, a two-class configuration and four lavatories. In-flight amenities include a complimentary checked bag, comfortable contoured seats, free beverages and snacks, an in-flight meal, and a complimentary reserved seat.
National Airlines is no stranger to Orlando, where it employs more than 200 people, who manage the new passenger service as well as logistic solutions for parent company, National Air Cargo Holdings.
"Our partnership with the Orlando Sanford International Airport allows us to offer exceptional customer-focused service with the added value of relatively shorter lines and smaller crowds. We pride ourselves on being a full-service airline, delivering a world-class travel experience at a competitive price."
A U.S. Certified Air Carrier, the industry-leading enterprise has offered customized cargo and passenger charter solutions for more than 20 years. From sports teams to diplomats to military groups and supplies, National Airlines has transported a diverse range of precious cargo to some of the world's most challenging locations.
