Latest Transborder Flight Cuts

Airlines continue to rejig and tweak schedules based on the continued reluctance of Canadians to visit the U.S. 

Aviation A 2 Z is reporting five routes have been cut from Air Canada’s winter 2025-2026 schedule, with the changes expected to take effect in the early autumn. 

The flights on the chopping block are:

• Montreal-PET (YUL) – Detroit (DTW)
• Montreal-PET (YUL) – Minneapolis (MSP)
• Toronto (YYZ) – Indianapolis (IND)
• Vancouver (YVR) – Nashville (BNA)
• Vancouver (YVR) – Tampa (TPA)

 

WestJet Suspensions

For its part, WestJet is opting to pause several flights over the next few months. Many of these have been previously reported. See: WestJet Transborder Flights From the Prairies Take a Hit

WestJet is pausing these flights for the month of June:

• Calgary (YYC) - Fort Lauderdale (FLL) 
• St. John’s (YYT) - Orlando (MCO) 
• Winnipeg (YWG) - Orlando (MCO)
• Edmonton (YEG) - Chicago (ORD)

 

WestJet is pausing these flights for July and August

• Winnipeg (YWG) - Las Vegas (LAS)
• Edmonton (YEG) - Atlanta (ATL)

 

The following WestJet flights are suspended for June, July and August

• Kelowna (YLW) - Seattle (SEA)
• Winnipeg (YWG) - Los Angeles (LAX)
  
  

A planned route between Vancouver (YVR) and Austin (AUS) is delayed until October.
