Delta Air Lines is once again operating daily flights to Israel. The Atlanta-based carrier resumed its daily nonstop service to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) from New York JFK on May 20.
Delta, like a handful of other United States airlines with flights into Israel, has been repeatedly pausing and resuming flights into Tel Aviv due to the ongoing conflict in the region. The latest halt of flights into the Israeli capital came after a missile strike landed near the airport on May 4.
The carrier says that the resumption of service follows “an extensive security risk assessment.” Other airlines, including United, Lufthansa, Air France, and Ryanair, are all currently planning to return to Tel Aviv in early or mid-June.
American Airlines has suspended its Tel Aviv flights until at least September 2025, and Ryanair is threatening to cut its routes to Israel altogether, according to Israeli news site Haaretz.
Flights on Delta’s JFK-to-TLV route will be operated by Delta’s Airbus A330-900neo planes.
The airline says that it “is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports.” Delta still has a travel waiver in place through May 25 for passengers who’d like to change their flights to Tel Aviv for free.
To qualify for the travel waiver, fliers must have purchased their tickets to Tel Aviv on or before May 5, 2025, for travel through May 25, 2025. Rebooked travel must begin no later than June 15, 2025.
