The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has issued an Immediate Temporary Suspension Order suspending the registration of City of Stars Travel Inc., a travel agency with two registered locations in Markham.
The suspension applies to the following registered offices:
City of Stars Travel Inc. – Retail (TICO Registration #50028211)
Operating as: City of Stars Travel
7270 Woodbine Ave, Suite 207
Markham, ON M2H 1P2
City of Stars Travel Inc. – Retail Branch (TICO Registration #50028340)
Operating as: City of Stars Travel
3255 Highway 7 E Unit 113
Markham, Ontario L3R 3P9
TICO also alleges the agency was operating from unregistered branch locations, including Pacific Mall, New Kennedy Square, King Square Shopping Centre, and Woodside Square in Scarborough.
As a result of the order, City of Stars Travel Inc. must cease all travel sales and counselling activity immediately.
In addition, TICO has issued a Notice of Proposal to Revoke the agency’s registration. City of Stars Travel Inc. is entitled to a hearing before the Licence Appeal Tribunal regarding the proposed revocation.
According to TICO, it is alleged that City of Stars Travel Inc. failed to comply with the Travel Industry Act, 2002. The allegations include concerns about the agency’s financial position and conduct, operating locations without proper authorization, and failing to maintain a permanent place of business. TICO further states there are reasons to believe the agency will not conduct business in accordance with the law, or with integrity and honesty.
