UNICO 20° 87° - An All-Inclusive Luxury Hotel with an EP Vibe

One of the things that hits you instantly as you arrive at the hotel is that this is not your average all-inclusive resort. You feel like you have arrived at a luxury five-star hotel. The check-in process sets the tone for your entire stay as you sit back and enjoy the signature cocktail. One executive from a leading Canadian tour operator, who preferred not to be identified, commented that the bar had been raised to an entirely new level when it comes to the luxury all-inclusive space.

After spending a few days at the hotel with other media types, we wanted to highlight our top five likes about the property and pass them along to you. These are in no particular order.

The hardware or "finishings" as they are often referred to, are at a level you find in the likes of a Peninsula or Four Seasons resort. Nothing has been overlooked. This "towel rack" is what caught my attention immediately. Like everything else in the room, no expense has been spared. This unique fixture, unlike any towel rack I have ever seen before, is solid. You can tell by the detail in the casting that this is not a cheap item you can pick up at Home Depot. The toilets, the tempered glass shower doors, the hydro spa tub, which sits out on your private balcony, all ooze quality. JBL Bluetooth speaker/alarm clock, 55' flat screen TV, Nespresso machine….your most discerning client will most definitely approve.

You could send even the most ardent hipster, artisan, foodie type to this property and they will return home suitably impressed. The sushi bar MURA HOUSE - Á LA CARTE JAPANESE YAKITORI & TEPPANYAKI, could very well rival some of the best you would find in any big city. The chef is incredibly innovative and willing to take risks. Imagine tempura avocado topped off with a sushi-style ceviche. You read correctly. Half an avocado, battered and deep fried. It was amazing. CUEVA SIETE - MODERN MEXICAN BY CELEBRITY CHEF BRAVO, Á LA CARTE, MI CARISA - COASTAL ITALIAN Á LA CARTE, 20 . 87. RESTAURANT - BREAKFAST & LUNCH BUFFET. DINNER Á LA CARTE, PALMERA LOUNGE - INCLUDING A CIGAR LOUNGE. Multiple swim-up bars, all with top-shelf liquor and wine. One of the "must do" pop up interactions is the "Mixology " class with their renowned Master Mixologist, Luis. This is a fun, informative class. Think along the lines of a cooking school!

The level of service from the team at this property is something ownership should be, as I am sure they are, incredibly proud of. You need only look to your right or your left, and there will be a team member of UNICO 20°N 87°W standing by to assist with whatever it is you require. An extra towel, drink, bucket of ice ... virtually no task is too tall. Your "local host" or "anfitrion," as they say in Spanish, is there to take care of your every need. Assigned to you for the duration of your stay they will assist with a host of tasks, including everything from check-in and check-out, late check-out requests, beach chair reservations, tour, golf and spa reservations, special events or occasions, spa tub preparation, or even packing and/or unpacking your luggage.

The world slips away from under your feet as you enter Esencia Spa. The full-service spa has over 25 treatment rooms or cabins as they call them, and features Natural Bissé products. The spa itself is over 17,700 sq. ft. and is equipped with hydrotherapy facilities, a plunge pool, and hammam and steam/sauna rooms. Also, there is an exterior lounge common area for complete and total relaxation. There are many varieties of treatments available. However, we highly recommend "The Esencia Signature." In this treatment, two therapists work together in synchronicity to target tension at either end of the body, resulting in a massage experience that will be tough to match.
