Industry Furious Over Latest Rocky Mountaineer Offer

A news article in the Globe and Mail on Wednesday has many agents seeing red, at a time when the industry is in its very early stages of recovery.

In the published article (click here), the Rocky Mountaineer lists an offer "exclusive to locals" and valid for bookings until August 16, where travellers can save up to $1400 per couple and also get bonus Aeroplan points.

Except the offer specifically says the offer is not valid on bookings with a travel agent. (more on next page)

Industry Communications Veteran Jill Wykes posted the article, calling it a "thoughtless slap in the face to struggling travel agents!!"

Agents online have chimed in, displaying disbelief and anger that the company would hit struggling agents who have been suffering for a year and a half. Some are asking why a supplier would intentionally exclude agents?

We reached out to Rocky Mountaineer for comment however we have not heard back from them at time of publication.
