Celebrity Cruises' newest ship, Celebrity Xcel, is set to make its European debut in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the cruise line's expanding global presence. The ship, which represents the fifth vessel in the revolutionary Edge Series, will embark on its inaugural European season offering Mediterranean voyages ranging from seven to 11 nights.
Operating from Barcelona and Athens, Celebrity Xcel will introduce several innovative features to the region, including the cruise line's first-ever overnight stays in Madeira, Portugal. This extended port time will allow guests to more deeply experience the destination's culture and nightlife.
The European debut is part of Celebrity's broader 2026-2027 deployment strategy, which includes more than 600 sailings to over 280 destinations across all seven continents. The cruise line is particularly strengthening its Mediterranean presence, with Celebrity Xcel joining sister ships Celebrity Ascent and Celebrity Apex in the region.
"Our 2026-2027 season offers exciting new and expanded experiences for Celebrity guests to indulge their sense of curiosity across all regions of the world," said Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises. She emphasized that the Edge Series ships continue to serve the cruise line's four key regions, with Celebrity Xcel's European debut offering guests exciting new vacation experiences.
The ship, which will launch in the fall of next year, will initially sail Caribbean itineraries before repositioning to Europe for its 2026 season. Following its European summer season, Celebrity Xcel will return to the Caribbean for winter 2026-2027, operating from Miami for the first time.
Celebrity Xcel's European deployment represents the cruise line's commitment to providing premium journey experiences at sea, combining innovative ship design with carefully curated itineraries that allow guests to explore some of the Mediterranean's most captivating destinations.
