‘Must-do’ River Cruise Excursions in Europe

With river cruising expected to surge 125 percent over pre-pandemic levels, demand for shore excursions are likely to increase as well.

Paris: The Seine is a scenic gateway to the City of Lights. Passengers will find plenty to do and may particularly enjoy a private tour of the gilded halls of Versailles, a tranquil visit to Monet’s serene gardens in Giverny or a raucous evening of dining and entertainment at the iconic Moulin Rouge.

Porto: Visitors can venture into Porto’s enchanting wine district, Vila Nova de Gaia and step inside the world’s oldest active wine cellar. The food and wine tasting offered by Shore Excursions Group includes sampling three varieties of Port wine and “hidden culinary gems not in your typical guidebook.”

Budapest: River cruisers can enjoy a slice of Budapest’s historic musical scene with a 70-minute concert inside St. Stephen’s Basilica. Musicians bring the works of Liszt, Vivaldi, and Bach to life within the opulent grandeur of one of Europe’s most elaborate churches.
