Toronto Pearson officials say they've gotten rid of separate lines for vaccinated and non-vaccinated passengers.

Pearson officials said the system wasn't as efficient as they had expected it to be.

"As Government of Canada travel restrictions ease in a health-focused and measured way, Toronto Pearson is committed to testing measures that will prioritize passenger and employee health while also resulting in efficiencies in the airport journey," they said in a statement.

"Toronto Pearson, in collaboration with government and other partners, has determined that separation of vaccinated and non/partially-vaccinated travellers in customs lines results in minimal operational efficiencies. As such, the practice will be ceased as of July 26, 2021, with entry requirements based on vaccination status being enforced once a passenger reaches a CBSA officer."

"The volume of passengers identifying as fully vaccinated is high enough that using all resources in the customs hall has been determined to be more efficient than separating passengers according to vaccination status," a Toronto Pearson spokesperson said in an email.

Pearson, as well as Vancouver YVR, had recently begun separating arriving international passengers into two lines; one for those fully vaccinated and another for those with only one or no vaccine doses.
