Labour Agreement Reached at Fairmont Queen Elizabeth

The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montreal has been experiencing a labour dispute over the last six months. With a new agreement, the lockout is now set to end.

Employees at the upscale property had been negotiating for better wages, increased employer contributions to group insurance, and improvements to training, vacation time and tipping policies.

The agreement passed the vote, with roughly 600 employees voting 91 percent in favour of a settlement proposed by a conciliator, according to a report by CBC News. 

Six other Quebec hotels that were also negotiating as part of a coordinated effort have yet to reach an agreement.
