Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced plans to open four new properties across Portugal and in Cape Verde over the next two years.

The move builds on recent Hyatt openings in Lisbon and Madeira.

Two lifestyle brands — Andaz and The Standard — will make their Portugal debut as part of the expansion.

Andaz Lisbon

With an anticipated opening in early 2026, Andaz Lisbon will introduce the brand to the country with 170 rooms and suites. The hotel plans to incorporate local craftsmanship and contemporary design, with a rooftop restaurant and terrace called Luzzi featuring modern interpretations of Lusitanian cuisine.

Other spaces will include an Andaz Lounge offering street-food-inspired dishes, cocktails, and Portuguese craft beer, as well as wellness areas and a fitness centre.

The Standard, Lisbon

Also slated for 2026, The Standard, Lisbon will occupy the historic Palácio Santa Clara overlooking Alfama. The property will offer 197 rooms and suites, a rooftop terrace, spa, and gardens. The design — led by Verena Haller and Jaime Hayon — aims to blend heritage elements with contemporary cultural programming and city views.

Hyatt will also expand its Regency brand with two openings planned for 2026.

Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve

Located near Vilamoura Marina and several golf courses, the new Algarve property will offer more than 250 rooms and suites. Plans include several dining spaces, a central bar, and outdoor areas aimed at travellers drawn to the region’s sports and leisure appeal.

Hyatt Regency Cape Verde Sal

In its first move into the Cape Verde archipelago, Hyatt will open a Regency-branded hotel on Sal, known for beaches and year-round sun. The property is being designed for both leisure and business travellers, with an emphasis on connecting guests to the island’s natural surroundings.

These openings follow the debut of Hyatt Regency Lisbon in 2022, located in Belém.

“Portugal continues to be a key focus for Hyatt’s brand growth in Southern Europe. Combining rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes and modern infrastructure, the country is increasingly attractive to both leisure and business travelers,” said Helena Burstedt, regional vice president, development, Iberia, Hyatt.

“With a growing focus on iconic lifestyle brands in Lisbon like Andaz and The Standard, our Lifestyle Portfolio sets the benchmark for immersive hospitality, delivering bold design, vibrant dining, and unique cultural programming. As Portugal matures as a market in the hospitality and residential investment space, we are excited to expand our portfolio and bring our diverse portfolio of brands to more destinations that matter to our guests, members and owners.”
