We’ve heard of Pokémon-themed hotels and attractions, but one town in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, is going even further with a limited-time Pokémon-themed airport, designed to boost tourism to a region that’s struggled recently due to an earthquake.

Beginning July 7, 2026, the Noto Satoyama Airport will reopen as the world’s first Pokémon-themed airport, even upgrading its name to the Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport.

Travelers heading in and out of the airport through September 2029 will be able to enjoy the themed airport experience, developed through a collaboration between the prefecture and the Pokémon With You Foundation, established to help boost communities impacted by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake.

What Does a Pokémon-Themed Airport Look Like?

While we only have one image for our viewing pleasure, the Pokémon-themed airport will offer original decorations, a new themed airport logo, a large-scale art installation featuring Pikachu, Plusle and Minun, along with other exciting details for Pokémon lovers.

Those who love will delight in trying to find all 111 Flying-type Pokémon displayed throughout the airport. Those wanting to take a piece of the airport home as a souvenir will enjoy Serendipity, a gift shop offering original merchandise.

Restaurant Annon on the airport’s third floor will offer a special set menu and several meals and drinks inspired by Pokémon, while the observation deck outside the airport is where Pikachu lovers will find Pikachu no Satoyama, a display of countless Pikachu forming a satoyama landscape.

Two buses operated by a local transportation company will also provide service to Pokémon flair, in addition to the existing Noto Express Bus, which connects the airport to Wajima City and Kanazawa Station. A new Noto Circular Bus will connect the airport to other destinations as well, including the Wakura Pokémon Footbath at Wakura Onsen in Nanao City and the Nymphia with LOVE monument in Suzu City.
