St. Kitts unveiled a new brand campaign at an exclusive event for TripCentral.ca agents in Toronto Tuesday night at Capra's Kitchen, one of their first trade events since the pandemic. The new campaign focuses on the island's distinct characteristics while also nodding to sustainable travel and self-discovery and is part of a larger goal to increase visitation to the island.

"I am happy to declare that we're fully open for business," Melnecia Marshall, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, St. Kitts Tourism Authority, told the crowd. "We are very excited about what this new season is going to bring for us."

The country, who recently appointed their first female Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson, lifted all restrictions in August, with no vaccination requirements or tests needed prior to arrival. The Authority also recently appointed Mia Lange as Chief Marketing Officer and was named the Caribbean's Leading Dive Destination 2022 at the 29th World Travel Awards.

A big part of the new "Venture Deeper" campaign focuses on sustainability, a common theme among many Caribbean islands for 2023.

"This is a major focus for us, it's something we're very passionate about," Ellison "Tommy" Thompson, CEO of St. Kitts Tourism Authority told TravelPulse Canada at the CTO Conference held earlier this month in the Cayman Islands.

"We want to look at how we can incorporate the environment with our four pillars: history, culture, environment, and our livelihood? How do we use authentic experiences as a promotional activity while protecting our home?"

Thompson said at the CTO conference that cruise arrivals are what kept the island going.

"Cruise arrivals in St. Kitts have been a mainstay for us, especially after the pandemic, the cruises business in terms of visitor arrivals is like a lifeline for us. We're looking forward to the new season, it's looking very robust for us. We're hoping to double the number of cruise passengers coming into St. Kitts."

"Number wise, we're still in the process of rebuilding after COVID. In the peak year, we had about 150,000 visitors to St. Kitts. I think if we can hit between 60 and 70,000 for 2023, I'll be happy."

Thompson says partnerships like the ones with TripCentral and Air Canada Vacations are part of their tools to achieve those numbers. Service to St Kitts on Air Canada resumes November 5 and continues through April.

"Trip Central is a very big provider of business, to Air Canada and Air Canada vacations. I think the mix is absolutely fantastic. We reach the right agents with the right operator with the right airline.

I think it's going to be a great winter season for St. Kitts."
