New Visa Requirement for Travel to Brazil

Starting April 10, 2025, Canadian tourists travelling to Brazil will need a visa, although business travellers and students are exempt from the visa requirement. Presently, no tourist visa is required for Canadians staying less than 90 days, but the Brazilian government has introduced changes to the system. The new changes also apply to American and Australian tourists.

Travellers can apply online for the visa at brazil.vfsevisa.com. The website states visas will take around five business days to process, but recommends travellers apply two months before travel to account for any delays.

The visa will be delivered to the email address a traveller enters when they apply. Travellers should take a screenshot of the visa on their phone, print out two copies (one and a spare) to bring with them, and save the email and attachment for handy reference, should they need it. 

Canadians travelling to Brazil also need to make sure the passport is valid for six months beyond the date they will be leaving Brazil.
