Margaritaville at Sea has named three-time Grammy Award-winner Zac Brown as the official godfather of its newest ship, Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber.
Brown will christen the ship in Miami on January 9, 2027, and perform for guests as part of the vessel’s inaugural celebration. Beachcomber is scheduled to begin sailing from PortMiami later that month.
The appointment expands a partnership between Brown and Margaritaville at Sea that already includes the ship’s new Same Boat live music venue. Brown collaborated with the cruise line on the venue’s design, artwork and music programming.
As godfather, Brown will take part in the maritime tradition of officially welcoming a new ship into service and wishing safe travels to the vessel, its crew and passengers.
“It’s been so much fun working with the Margaritaville at Sea family to bring Same Boat on Beachcomber to life,” Brown says. “I’m really proud of what we’ve created together, and being named godfather of Beachcomber is a true honor.”
Brown also will headline a special concert in Nassau on January 28, 2027, when Beachcomber, Margaritaville at Sea Islander and Margaritaville at Sea Paradise are scheduled to meet for the first gathering of the cruise line’s three-ship fleet.
The Same Boat venue is billed as the world’s first artist-designed live music venue at sea. It takes its name and inspiration from Brown’s song “Same Boat,” which featured Jimmy Buffett on the deluxe edition of Zac Brown Band’s The Comeback album.
The venue also highlights the musical connection between Brown and Buffett, who collaborated on songs including “Knee Deep” and appeared together on CMT’s Crossroads.
Margaritaville at Sea is also the presenting sponsor of Zac Brown Band’s 27-show Love & Fear U.S. Tour. During the band’s August 2 performance at Fenway Park, Brown provided a Margaritaville at Sea cruise vacation to every fan in attendance—more than 35,000 people—in what the cruise line describes as the largest audience gifting in live entertainment history.
Beachcomber will launch from PortMiami in January 2027 with more than 15 new venues, alongside several of Margaritaville at Sea’s existing concepts. The ship will sail four- to eight-night cruises to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean during its inaugural season.
In October 2027, Beachcomber is scheduled to reposition to Galveston, Texas, where it will offer cruises to destinations throughout Mexico and the Western Caribbean.
