Paul Gauguin Cruises will offer a 10-night culinary cruise around the islands of French Polynesia in December.

Departing December 11 from Papeete, Tahiti, the trip will be offered onboard the Paul Gauguin, the line’s 330-guest ship. The cruise will transport guests to destinations on the Society Islands and Tuamotus, including Huahine, Bora Bora, Rangiroa and Fakarava.

“Beyond its legendary lagoons, Tahiti is paradise for foodies and The Gauguin’s culinary mission is to serve the freshest, most authentic cuisine in the islands,” says Paul Ellis, the vessel’s executive chef.

Two culinary experts will join the sailing: Tom Wong, a chef who specializes in Hawaiian cuisine, and Charlie Plummer, a certified sommelier and specialist of wine. Onboard the vessel, they’ll host mixology classes, wine seminars, tastings, cooking demonstrations and other activities.

“We are thrilled to welcome chef Tom Wong back on board—his Hawaiian-inspired cuisine has been a treat for our guests in the past, and our own culinary team enjoys learning new techniques from him,” says Ellis. “The addition of expert sommelier Charlie Plummer on our December culinary cruise will add to the uniquely delicious, and complimentary, experience for our guests.”

Paul Gauguin Cruises has been offering small-ship cruises in French Polynesia for more than 25 years. The line is named after Paul Gauguin, the French artist who found inspiration in the South Pacific and lived out his final years on Hiva Oa, one of the remote Marquesas Islands. In 2019, Ponant purchased Paul Gauguin Cruises.

From now through February 16, guests who make a new booking for a 2024 voyage can enjoy up to $500 in shipboard credits per stateroom, plus a welcome bottle of Champagne and a chocolate treat, during the line’s “Take Your Sweetie to Tahiti” wave season sale. Travel advisors are also eligible for gift cards worth up to $500 for new bookings made during the promotion.
