MSC World Asia is one step closer to joining the MSC Cruises fleet after successfully completing final sea trials in the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of France.

The trials, which took place this week, tested the ship’s engines, maneuverability, fuel efficiency, safety systems, speed and stopping distances. The results confirmed the ship’s readiness as construction moves toward completion. MSC World Asia completed her first round of sea trials in July.

The 6,762-passenger ship is scheduled to be delivered to MSC Cruises on November 25, 2026, from Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The ship will then receive its final finishing touches before entering service.

MSC World Asia will be the cruise line’s 24th ship and its third LNG-powered World Class vessel. The ship will feature more than 40 bars, lounges and restaurants, along with international entertainment and family facilities.

The ship will sail seven-night Mediterranean itineraries visiting Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina and Valletta. Guests will also be able to embark in each port on the itineraries.

MSC World Asia will be officially named on November 28 in Le Havre, France, during a ceremony attended by travel industry representatives, media, partners and invited guests. The ship’s inaugural voyage is scheduled for December 4, departing Barcelona on a seven-night sailing.

Among MSC World Asia’s features is The Spiral @ Tree of Life, a 266.7-foot-long dry slide that stretches across 12 decks. The ship also incorporates design elements inspired by Asian culture, art and landscapes, including a 39-foot-long, 29-foot-wide dragon sculpture suspended 32 feet above the World Promenade.

MSC World Asia will be powered by LNG and will also be capable of using bio and synthetic renewable LNG fuels. The ship has shore power connectivity, allowing its engines to be switched off while in port to eliminate local emissions and improve air quality.
