WestJet Issue Results in Nationwide Delays

Several airports across the country are reporting delays caused by “network-wide technical issues.” Ottawa International Airport (YOW), Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ), Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport (YXE), Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Calgary International Airport (YYC) each reported troubles earlier in the day, although Toronto and Montreal have since indicated the issue has been resolved. 

 

The airline apologized for the delays, saying “This morning, WestJet experienced a temporary system outage that delayed the handover of aircraft from maintenance personnel for scheduled operation,”  a spokeperson told CTV News.  “WestJet expedited efforts to resolve the technological issue and a return to normal operations is underway. We apologize to any guests who may have experienced a disruption to their travel plans.”

Travellers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
