Starting March 25, 2025, Air Canada will have updated reward redemption rates and more seat availability with some partners. These partners will now include: United, Emirates, flydubai, Etihad, and Air Canada regional airline partners: Canadian North, Calm Air and PAL (Provincial Airlines).

In a nutshell, there may be more seats available, but they may cost more points. The airline was also pleased to announce that Etihad Business Class will once again be available to book on its system.

According to the release from Air Canada, key changes include:

  • Simplified redemption details: Replacing reward amount ranges with a starting amount (unchanged from the current values) and a new median amount, which will be based on historical Aeroplan Member redemptions with these carriers. This change aims to give members a better understanding of typical redemption amounts while making the charts easier to navigate.
  • The median amounts will be updated every quarter, reflecting redemptions from the previous four quarters for better accuracy. Please note, however, that median amounts may not appear in cases of low redemption volume (e.g., certain international short-haul ranges) or when only one carrier provides redemption options (e.g., First Class ranges with Emirates).
  • Discounted redemption rates for Aeroplan Elite Members and credit cardholders will apply to these rewards.

The fixed partner airline rewards chart will otherwise remain unchanged.

Air Canada notes that “While the redemption rates under this chart can be higher than our fixed partner award chart and can vary from one itinerary to another, these changes will enable greater availability than before for reward seats on these airlines.”
