PLAY Reportedly Withdraws from Canada

The skies around the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) will be a little quieter as Icelandic discount carrier PLAY pulls out of the Canadian market there, reports the Canadian Press. Flights after April 22, 2025 from Hamilton are no longer listed on the website. The airline has not yet issued a statement regarding tickets booked after that date.

PLAY advertises low prices to European destinations “from Toronto” from the Hamilton airport, with tempting prices such as a featured $121 one-way fare to London Stansted (STN) and $144 one-way to Berlin (BER). Reviews of the airline vary, as do many reviews of ultra-low cost carriers, with a SkyTrax customer review rating of 5/10.  

PLAY is one more in the list of low-cost carriers such as Swoop (which has been brought under Westjet’s wing) and Lynx Air that have shuttered operations here.
