‘More Choice and More Convenience’: Canada Increases China Flights

The Government of Canada has announced it will allow an “incremental” increase in flights too and from China. It’s part of an agreement aimed at improving our country’s international connectivity, providing more options for travellers and shippers. It builds upon the announcement made earlier this year that the Carney government would introduce visa-free travel to China for Canadians. 

“Increasing passenger and cargo flights with China is a very positive step towards our trade diversification goals while also reinforcing our strong people-to-people ties,” says The Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons. “We are giving Canadian travellers more choice and more convenience while growing our commercial relationship with China.” 

Under the Canada-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Roadmap, which was built to “support the renewal of Canada’s economic relationship with China,” a handful of changes have been made.  This includes the incremental increase of combination passenger and cargo direct flights between Canada and China, up to 20 weekly cargo-only flights and reciprocal access to all points in each country.
