Memorial for Pilots Installed at Montreal Airport

The two pilots killed in the LaGuardia crash last month will be honoured with a memorial that has been installed near the runways at Montreal-Trudeau Airport. 

Captain Antoine Forest, 30, and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther, 24, died when the Air Canada Express aircraft they were piloting collided with a fire truck on the runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York.

The pilots were credited with mitigating the scope of the tragedy.  Clement Lelievre, a French national who was a passenger on the plane, told The Canadian Press at the time, “I don’t know the circumstances, but I think he kind of saved our lives because he must have had incredible reflexes.”  

The memorial has been erected and will stand permanently at the airport reads, “To these two men who lost their lives while performing their duties and pursuing their passion.”
