Flying first class on Emirates is no doubt an opulent experience—with fully enclosed suites and access to amenities like an onboard shower spa.

But the Dubai-based carrier is upping the glamor quotient by adding a coveted vintage of Champagne to its in-flight beverage lineup. Passengers in first class can now sip Dom Perignon Rosé Vintage 2009 Champagne on all Emirates routes departing Dubai.

“The celebrated vintage has consistently received exceptionally high ratings and will be offered in First Class over the next few months,” the airline says. Emirates will be the only airline to offer the special Champagne in the sky.

As part of its regular wine program, the airline serves Dom Perignon Vintage, a white Champagne, in first class across all of its routes. But it also offers a rotating selection of special wines to give passengers a chance to sample rare bottles from around the world. The carrier has spent a whopping $1 billion on its wine program over the past 16 years.

The 2009 vintage of Dom Perignon’s rosé is special because its grapes were harvested in an exceptional year, with a warm, dry, and sunny summer, which allowed the grapes to express their full flavor. The bottles were then cellar-aged for 12 years before hitting the market in early 2022.

Fliers can expect notes of rose petals, orange oil, saffron, raspberry, cherry, cassis, and fig. Bottles of the 2009 rosé Champagne retail for between $400 to $600 and up.

Earlier this year, Emirates added other special new touches to its luxe first class cabin experience, including new engraved caviar bowls with cloche lids and the start of white-glove meal service from flight attendants. As part of the refresh, first class fliers also receive a new keepsake wine list with intricate details on each of the wines served on board.

Passengers can confirm the special rosé Champagne will be on their flight by using the “What’s on your flight” tool on Emirates’ website and app.
