Air Transat is making its Montreal–Dakar route a year-round service while also expanding its winter sun program with new and extended non-stop flights to Cancún from Windsor and Fredericton.
The airline announced that its non-stop flights between Montreal and Dakar, Senegal, will continue through the winter season after launching in June 2026. The route, which Air Transat says is the only non-stop service between Canada and Sub-Saharan Africa, will operate once a week during Winter 2026-2027.
Flights will depart every Friday from Oct. 30, 2026, through March 26, 2027, aboard the Airbus A330, the largest aircraft in Air Transat's fleet. The winter schedule will complement the airline's existing twice-weekly summer service.
Air Transat said the year-round operation is designed to serve Quebec's Senegalese community while also providing Canadian travellers with direct access to West Africa.
"This route plays an important role for the communities travelling between Canada and Senegal," said Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat. "By extending it year-round, we're providing our customers with greater continuity and convenience while reinforcing our commitment to this market."
The announcement also includes an expansion of Air Transat's regional network to Mexico for the upcoming winter season.
Beginning Dec. 19, 2026, the airline will introduce a new weekly non-stop route between Windsor (YQG) and Cancún (CUN). The Saturday service will operate through April 25, 2027, adding Cancún to Air Transat's existing winter service from Windsor, which already includes Punta Cana.
In Atlantic Canada, the airline is extending its seasonal Fredericton (YFC)-Cancún (CUN) service after introducing the route last winter. The weekly Wednesday flights will operate from Dec. 16, 2026, through April 29, 2027, lengthening the season for travellers from New Brunswick.
"Growing our regional network remains a strategic priority," added Mr. Ponce. "With the addition of Cancún from Windsor and the extension of our seasonal service from Fredericton, we're continuing to provide travellers in these regions with convenient non-stop access to popular sun destinations while strengthening our presence in markets where we see strong growth potential."
