The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has released its latest quarterly progress report outlining steps taken to address recommendations from the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario (OAGO).

As of August 31, 2025, TICO has completed 74% of the action items assigned directly to the organization, pending verification by the OAGO.

“Our team remains committed to implementing the Auditor General’s recommendations,” said TICO CEO Richard Smart.

“With each action item completed, we strengthen the value TICO brings to consumers and Ontario’s marketplace, while becoming a more efficient and effective regulator.”

In the past quarter, TICO finalized a review of its data collection processes across all core functions to improve regulatory performance.

Ongoing initiatives include updates to TICO’s complaint handling procedures and the use of insights drawn from consumer feedback. Work is also advancing on TICO’s shift toward a risk-based oversight model.

TICO stated it will continue to provide transparent quarterly updates on its progress.

The Auditor General’s report included 16 total recommendations—nine directed solely at TICO, six shared between TICO and the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, and one directed solely at the Ministry.

TICO’s full quarterly update is available on its website.
