Labour shortages continue to be a significant challenge for travel agencies and tour operators.
As becoming TICO-certified is the first step towards a career in travel sales in Ontario, TICO is launching a new informational video series for individuals considering this career path.
"As new sellers enter the industry, it is essential that all Travel Counsellors understand their obligations under the consumer protection laws administered by TICO, starting with certification," TICO says in a press release.
The series includes four videos that speak to TICO certification, along with a focus on professionalism and consumer protection.

With travel agencies and tour operators working hard to recruit new talent, TICO suggests sharing the video series as part of the recruitment process.

TICO is also collaborating with Ontario's colleges that feature a Travel & Tourism program to highlight travel sales as a potential career path for students. This complements TICO's existing relationship with these programs, where it often speaks to students about TICO's role and the certification process.
