TICO Approves Nearly $125K in Compensation Claims Following Flyswatt Closure

Ontario’s travel regulator has approved nearly CAD $125,000 in compensation for consumers who did not receive travel services purchased through Flyswatt Inc.The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) said its Board of Directors approved 42 claims against the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund on July 28, totalling $124,973.The approved claims will compensate 81 consumers.
RELATED: TICO Suspends Mississauga Travel Agency Flyswatt Inc.TICO revoked Flyswatt Inc.’s registration on April 9, 2026, and subsequently opened the Compensation Fund claims process for affected customers.The board also denied one claim because the payment had not been made to a TICO registrant.Consumers who may still have eligible claims related to Flyswatt have until Tuesday, October 13, 2026, to submit them to TICO.The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund provides protection in certain circumstances when consumers do not receive travel services purchased through an Ontario-registered travel retailer or wholesaler.
