The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has approved more than CAD$44,000 in compensation for consumers affected by the closure of Flyswatt Inc.
At its Sept. 22 meeting, TICO’s Board of Directors approved 20 claims against the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund, totalling $44,135. The payments will compensate 32 consumers who did not receive travel services they had purchased.
Two claims were denied. According to TICO, one involved a payment that was not made to a TICO registrant, while the other involved a case where no travel services had been paid for to Flyswatt and subsequently not provided.

TICO revoked Flyswatt Inc.’s registration on April 9, 2026, and subsequently opened the Compensation Fund claims process.
Consumers who may be eligible still have time to submit a claim, with the deadline set for Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026.
The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund is financed by the travel industry and provides protection in certain cases where consumers do not receive travel services they paid for because of the insolvency or bankruptcy of an Ontario-registered travel agent or wholesaler, or the cessation of an end-supplier airline or cruise line.
Coverage is limited to eligible consumers who booked through an Ontario-registered travel agent.
