There is nothing quite like first-hand experience to help travel advisors showcase and sell a destination to clients. In Iceland, the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors (ACTA) recently put that philosophy into action.

A week-long immersive expedition cruise – hosted by Aurora Expeditions on the world-class expedition vessel M/V Sylvia Earle – saw 26 travel advisors exploring the Westfjords peninsula in northwestern Iceland.

The itinerary spotlighted Iceland’s spectacular fjords, with Zodiac wet landings and guided hikes through the rugged Nordic scenery. From lava fields to coastal trails, amazing photo opportunities abounded. Ship amenities included a state-of-the-art lecture theater, sauna, library, and upscale restaurant dining. The cruise experience underlined ACTA’s commitment to education and professional development for its members.

“This was my first expedition cruise, and I wasn’t sure if it would be for me,” said Laura Tempan, CTC, Sun Touch Travel. “I ended up loving every minute of it. The experience gave me a whole new appreciation for what expedition travel is all about, and I now feel much more confident introducing clients to expedition cruising and inspiring them to explore incredible destinations like Iceland.”

Between now and August 31, 2026, travel advisors and travel agencies can earn ballots toward an exclusive grand prize draw in partnership with Aurora Expeditions. Ways to earn ballots include joining ACTA, renewing a membership, successfully referring another travel advisor or travel agencies, or completing eligible certification activities.

The winning travel advisor will get a complimentary cabin aboard the M/V Sylvia Earle for a bucket-list trip – valued at about $45,000 CAD per person – to Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, and South Georgia. Learn more about the referral program and grand prize here
