TravelPulse Canada on Scene: Into the Wild at Sandos Caracol

Don’t be surprised if your welcoming committee at Sandos Caracol consists of monkeys and coatis, they call the lush grounds home and can be found as you wander throughout what feels like a mix of rainforest and resort.

The property is an eco-adventure resort, home to 953 rooms and of the four Sandos properties in Mexico, (Finesterra in Los Cabos, PlayaCar and Cancun being the others) is the one most tailored to outdoor exploring. The surrounding mangroves and tree canopies offer a welcome break from the sun as you wind your way through the property’s pathways to take a walk on a suspension bridge, snorkel your way through the natural lazy river or make your way to the beach.

The beach is home to a natural reef and therefore a bit rocky making it not ideal for swimming, but that doesn’t stop most guests from wading in and enjoying the sun and sand. In keeping with the lush landscape of the property, guests can take cover from the sun under the many palm trees that fill the area. The property also has a large kids club and two pools, so there are lots of options to cool off.

The adults-only area of the beach features the Select Club which is a great spot to cool off and grab a beverage, a massage area, the Riviera Restaurant and plenty of shade if desired. 

Ontario / Manitoba BDM Juan Carlos Ruiz says weddings at Sandos properties offer a “unique venue” and that couldn’t be truer than at Caracol. Home to seven cenotes on the property, the one located in the main lobby steals the spotlight and is a favourite location to say, “I do.”  Of the seven, three cenotes are available to swim and explore in, or simply provide an unforgettable backdrop to life’s magical moments.

Weddings are popular at Caracol, and the property offers three types of packages: Sweet Romance, Seaside Bliss and Dreamcatcher. Locations are available on the beach or terrace, though beach access is limited to 9pm at times during May to October to accommodate the on-site turtle hatching program.  

Rooms are in three categories: Family, Select (adults only) and Elite. Like the other Sandos properties, standard in-room amenities are a mini fridge with beer and soft drinks, a water cooler and 24/7 room service.  

There are 7 restaurants; 2 buffets and 5 ala carte and 7 bars located throughout the property.

It might be important for agents to let their clients know that, like Sandos PlayaCar, alcohol delivery is not available with room service and at Caracol, alcohol is not served in the waterpark area or in the buffet. 

 

There’s a very large water park for the kids that consists of 29 waterslides and a Kids Club for ages 4-10 years. There’s also a spa and gym on site.
