All Ages Fun in the Sun: Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun

In part two of our series on Hyatt in the Riviera Maya, we find out what you need to know about the recently opened family-friendly Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun.

As we said in part one, having an ace up your sleeve to offer your clients is worth its weight in gold right now and the Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya and the Hyatt Ziva Rivera Cancun are two solid choices that will ensure your guests receive the ultimate in service, experience and value.

TravelPulse Canada recently stayed at both resorts, and while each features the level of quality that Playa Hotels and Resorts is known for, both are very distinct and have something special to offer.

The Hyatt Riviera Cancun opened during the pandemic in Fall 2021, and quickly became a go-to for Canadian families looking for the perfect getaway. Agents and some travellers might remember it as the Secrets Silversands Riviera Maya, though the property has been completely redone.

Compared to its sister property down the road, the adults-only Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya, the Ziva feels huge with 438 rooms. It has 10 pools, 13 restaurants including a sports bar, a two-storey spa and multiple bars throughout the property.

It's easy to see why this is such a hit - there's something for everyone of all ages, at any time to do. There's a big waterslide with no age requirements that both young and old can play on. There's free Kids Club is in a special fenced in area that features its own waterpark and is staffed by trained workers to ensure the kids have fun and parents relax knowing they're safe. There are also babysitting services with a trained nanny available for a fee and should be arranged at least 48 hours in advance. There are multiple activities happening every day throughout the resort such as hat painting classes, cocktail making classes and loads of water sports and family-friendly activities.

One of the biggest selling points for families must be the size of the rooms. At approximately 600 sq ft, they are the size of many big city condos and the largest standard rooms we've seen at a resort. They can easily accommodate a family of 4, up to 6 using the sleeper sofa though there are a limited number of adjoining rooms. All standard rooms include a jacuzzi tub, which is sure to come in handy when it's time to drag the kids away from the pool for the day.

Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun's beach is great for early morning runs, lounging with cocktails or simply eating a taco from the beach restaurant (highly recommended!) under one of the many huts.

If you're looking at Mexico to hold a wedding, special event or conference where families will be included, this is a great choice. The way the resort is set up with individual towers allows large groups to potentially have their own separate area of the resort, complete with pool, by filling up two of the towers located beside each other. This requires a total room block of 80 rooms (40 per tower) but in the case of large groups, you can have the entire area to yourself - the resort will block the area off to other guests and also do things like serve a private dinner by the pool area, as seen in the above photo.
