Capitalizing on trends in travel, Kensington unveiled an expanded slate of family and multigenerational itineraries to meet growing demand for slower-paced trips with a generous number of cultural, immersive and transformative experiences.

“Multigenerational travel continues to shape how families plan vacations, particularly for longer summer trips,” said Kensington President Helen Giontsis.

“Both internal and industry research shows that more families are traveling with grandparents, parents, and children together, prioritizing destinations and itineraries that can accommodate a wide range of interests, mobility levels and travel styles,” she added.

The luxury operator is offering two new trips to perennially popular Italy: “Italy for Families,” which includes a guided visit to the Colosseum with “a hands-on gladiator training experience, a locally led tour of Florence paired with a shared pizza-making class, and a gondola ride through Venice followed by a guided mask-themed scavenger hunt,” and “Italy Ultra Luxe,” including an archeologist-led exploration of Rome’s Colosseum, a Roman Forum and self-drive journey along the Appian Way in a vintage Alfa Romeo and more.

“Japan Family Fun” vacation incorporates pop culture, history and immersive experiences in Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Osaka. “Families explore Tokyo’s anime scene during a manga drawing workshop, cruise Lake Ashi aboard a pirate-style ship with views of Hakone’s volcanic landscape and visit Kyoto’s temples before learning samurai sword dance in traditional attire,” Kensington said. “In Osaka, families sample street food in the retro Shinsekai district with a local guide.

The “Costa Rica Rainforest to Beach for Families” itinerary enables families to try their hands at traversing rainforest hanging bridges, explore the Arenal Volcano  and participate in cloud forest walks in Monteverde.

Other new family- and multigenerational vacations include “Unseen Greece: A Hidden Island,” which explores Athens, Paros, Mykonos and Milos; and “Greece’s Peloponnese: Athens to Arcadia,” which, in addition to Athens, highlights Nafplio, Olympia, Sparta and Monemvasia.

The “Zealand Family Vacation” explores Auckland, Rotorua and Queenstown, coupling “cinematic landscapes with outdoor adventure and cultural experiences,” Kensington said.

Kensington also unveiled a portfolio of vacations for travelers looking for slower-paced trips, in addition to personal heritage journeys and wellness-focused itineraries.
