As the 25th anniversary of “The Lord of the Rights: The Fellowship of the Rings” draws near, Kensington unveiled “New Zealand’s Big Screen Landscapes,” a 12-day itinerary that explores the sights from the film and destinations such as Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.
Exclusive Access for Early Bookings
The first 40 travelers to book the itinerary will be able to buy tickets for Hobbiton Movie Set’s The Lord of the Rings 25th Anniversary Celebration, which is set for Friday, December 4, 2026. (The film was originally released on Dec. 19, 2001.)
“Guests will enjoy a guided tour culminating in a bustling festival event at The Green Dragon Inn,” Kensington said. “With traditional Hobbit fare, entertainment and festivities, this will be a night to remember.”
Middle-Earth Itinerary Highlights
Itinerary highlights include a tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set, exploration of Trace Wellington’s Middle’ Earth-earth locations; a visit to Mountain Sunday; a TranzAlpine rail journey through the Canterbury Plains, river gorges to Arthur’s landing; an air excursion “the pilot who served as principal aerial pilot on the original trilogy, landing high on a glacier beside the summits that stood in for the Misty Mountains,” Kensington said.
