Paris, Barcelona and Venice are three of the most-visited cities in the world, with good reason. But beyond the Eiffel Tour, Sagrada Familia and St. Mark’s Square are fascinating cities with citizens who carry on with their daily lives in quieter, untouristed neighbourhoods. Intrepid Travel is inviting visitors to discover some of these areas with new half-day tours.
"These tours are proof that you can still have incredible local experiences in some of the world’s most popular destinations, going beyond the hotspots to explore a genuinely local side of the city." says Erica Kritikides, General Manager Experiences at Intrepid Travel.
The tours, "Uncommon Paris," "Uncommon Barcelona," and "Uncommon Venice," launching this season aim to take travellers beyond the typical tourist hotspots and show that more thoughtful, locally led travel experiences are still possible amid growing overtourism concerns.
“The conversation is shifting from simply where people go to how they show up when they get there,” said Christian Wolters, President for Canada at Intrepid Travel. “That includes travelling in smaller groups and opting for experiences that support local communities. We wanted to offer Canadians travelling to Europe this summer a fresh and more intentional way to experience some of the continent’s most visited cities.”
Each tour will run for between two and three hours, in groups of up to 12. New trip departures commence from June 2026. To find out more information and book, visit: www.urbanadventures.com/uncommon-day-trips
