The Intrepid Foundation, Intrepid Travel’s philanthropic arm, held its eighth annual Blue Dragon Marathon Walk in support of the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation last month. The foundation is based in Vietnam, where it works to rescue and support children, families and communities affected by human trafficking.
This year, more than 1,400 people and 15 travel companies (including Flight Centre Travel Group, CT Partners, Australian Travel Agents Cooperative, Platinum Travel and APT Touring) took part in the event, raising more than $460,000 CAD.
“I'm extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed to this year's event by walking, giving or spreading the word,” says Biheng Zhang, General Manager of The Intrepid Foundation. “While the enormity of the human trafficking issue can feel daunting, the Blue Dragon Walk shows how collective action can create real impact and help build safer, more secure futures for people in Vietnam and beyond.”
The money raised will go towards Blue Dragon’s work, providing rescue care, shelter, legal advocacy and long-term support for people affected by human trafficking, as well as working with local communities on preventative measures. Earlier this year, the foundation reached a significant milestone, rescuing its 2000th trafficking victim since the organisation was founded in 2004.
The walk, which was held on Sept. 13, 2026 in cities around the world including Toronto, raised a significant portion of the campaign’s $497,000 CAD fundraising goal. People from around the world can make a donation to support Blue Dragon’s work, with all funds going directly to the organisation with Intrepid covering all administrative fees.
"It has been wonderful to see people coming together all over the world, from Melbourne to Oslo, Hanoi and Singapore in support of Vietnamese children and families,” says Michael Brosowski, Founder and Strategic Director of Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. “The funds raised will make a transformative difference for street kids, victims of human trafficking and disadvantaged communities. All of us at Blue Dragon are truly grateful to everyone who walked, ran, donated, spread the word and even cooked meals to keep the walkers fed.
