Viking growth continues unabated with the delivery of its latest 190-passenger Longship, Viking Eldir, from Germany’s Meyer’s Neptun Werft shipyard in Rostock-Warnemünde, with 22 additional river ships scheduled to debut by 2028.
Like its Longship sisters, Viking Eldir features a refined, clean Scandinavian design, the Aquavit Terrace for indoor/outdoor dining, the Viking Lounge and Bar, a Sun Deck with a walking track and a library.
Plying the waterways of the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, Viking Eldir will sail on itineraries that include the “Rhine Getaway,” “Grand European Tour,” “Passage to Eastern Europe,” “European Sojourn” and “Christmas on the Rhine.”
“We are pleased to welcome the Viking Eldir to our growing river fleet,” said Viking CEO and Chairman Torstein Hagen.
“With our exclusive docking locations, we proudly bring our guests closer to destinations along the great rivers of the world,” he added. “Now, with the addition of our newest Viking Longship, we look forward to inviting even more curious travelers to explore Europe in Viking comfort.”
In addition to the 22 river ships set to enter service by 2027, Viking also has orders for 10 more ocean ships, set to sail by 2031, and two additional expedition ships scheduled to enter service in 2031, for a total of 112 river ships in 2028 and 25 ocean and expedition ships in 2031.
