Former Tauck President and Chairman Arthur C. Tauck Jr. died
on February 11 in Vero Beach, Florida, at the age of 94.
According to Travel
Weekly, Tauck Jr. joined his father’s company in 1950 and was named
President in 1958. He helped grow the family-owned business from a domestic
motorcoach company to one of the world’s most preeminent travel brands.
After expanding Tauck across the United States, Tauck Jr. grew
the company’s operations outside of the U.S. in the 1990s, including adding river
cruising to the brand’s repertoire, a crucial part of the business to this day.
Even after his semi-retirement from being President of Tauck
in 1996, he served as chairman until 2007 and remained active as chairman
emeritus. Tauck Jr. was able to witness the company that helped put the map on
the map reach 100 years in the industry last year.
“Arthur was our rock,” U.S. Tour Operators Association (USTOA)
CEO Terry Dale told Travel Weekly. “He led us with intellect, integrity, and
inspiration. We will share his stories for generations to come, bringing hope
to all.”
“Arthur was a beloved travel industry legend, visionary, and
pioneer whose passion for high-quality and memorable experience leaves an
enduring legacy,” former U.S. Travel CEO Roger Dow told Travel Weekly.
