Petra Roach will not renew her contract as the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA)’s CEO, the organization announced. In her fifth year at the organization’s helm, Roach informed the GTA’s board of directors and management team that she will conclude her tenure in June.

Roach will “play an active role in supporting the transition process, including assisting in the identification of a new CEO to lead the GTA into its next chapter,” said organization officials in a statement.

Roach, a Barbados native, joined GTA in 2021 following a 26-year tenure at Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. Roach’s BTMI initiatives included initiatives focused on sports tourism to court active, high-value travelers.

At GTA, she helped to navigate Grenada’s tourism sector through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, said officials, stabilizing the country’s tourism industry and “setting the foundation for sustained growth.”

“Her visionary leadership, strategic acumen, and passionate advocacy have significantly elevated Grenada’s global profile as a premier destination,” said GTA officials. “Under her stewardship, Grenada experienced notable growth in visitor arrivals” driven by including expanded airlift connectivity.

“It has been a fantastic experience being a part of the GTA family,” said Roach. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together in positioning Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique as vibrant, sought-after destinations."

She added, “The passion and dedication of the team have been inspiring, and I look forward to seeing Grenada’s tourism industry continue to thrive.”
