Brand USA, the official destination marketing organization for the United States, announced on Wednesday that President and CEO Fred Dixon would step down from his roles, effective November 13.
Newly elected Brand USA Board Chairman Todd Davidson revealed that Dixon plans to return to NYC Tourism + Conventions as president and CEO after leading Brand USA for more than two years.
Davidson said Dixon will continue in his current position through November 13 to ensure continuity during the leadership transition. The organization thanked him for his leadership and cited the momentum achieved during his tenure.
Dixon’s departure comes as Brand USA continues its mission of growing inbound travel to the U.S. The organization said in a statement that the mission remains a priority and that Brand USA enters the transition from a position of strength.
Davidson said the organization’s board has full confidence in its existing leadership team during the transition. The board also said it is committed to a timely process that will keep Brand USA focused on its mission.
A search plan for Dixon’s successor is already being developed, but the organization did not provide details about the search or identify potential candidates.
