Marriott International has announced nine hotel signings in Greece, expanding its footprint in a premier market by adding nearly 1,000 rooms.

The hotel giant's expansion plans include the entry of two brands in Residence Inn by Marriott and Le Méridien.

The 57-room Residence Inn by Marriott Athens has been signed for the country's capital, while the 229-room Le Méridien Sissi Crete will open on Greece's largest island in 2027.

Other properties in the pipeline include Milatos Marriott Resort Crete (2028), The Tenant, Heraklion Crete, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel (2026) and Orosea, Paros, Autograph Collection (2026).

Marriott's luxury growth includes the signing of the 94-room Hymnos, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Zakynthos, opening later this year.

The company has also inked deals for Tella Thera, a Member of Design Hotels, Stamna Sifnos, a Member of Design Hotels and Eréma, a Member of Design Hotels.

"As one of the world’s most desirable leisure destinations, Greece continues to offer significant opportunities for Marriott to expand its footprint across its islands, coastal regions, and urban centres," Jerome Briet, Chief Development Officer, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, said in a statement.

"These new signings reflect the strong confidence owners and franchisees place in Marriott and underscore the sustained demand for our diverse and inspiring portfolio of brands in the Greek market," Briet added.

Marriott currently boasts a portfolio of 47 properties and more than 6,000 rooms across 10 brands and 12 markets in Greece.
